Understanding Your Assessment Has Never Been Easier
***NEWS FLASH - At the October 3, 2012 meeting of the Midtown Management District Board of Directors the board took action on the
Order Setting the Rate of Assessment for Year Eight of the District Service and Assessment Plan.
The Board of Directors voted unanimously not to increase the rate of assessment for the district for the 2013 fiscal year. The rate will remain as it has for the past 8-years at .1181¢ per $100 of valuation.
As of Monday, October 22, 2012 all Midtown Management District assessment bills were mailed out to HCAD certified properties. If you have not received your billing please contact Equi-Tax, Inc (see below)
Thanks to assessment dollars, the Midtown Management District (MMD) has been able to implement a multitude of successful programs initiated by the four key committees that respond to community needs. These programs make Midtown the thriving community we see today.
The District levies an assessment on the commercial and residential property(homstead exemptions apply) owners within the District to provide services and improvements above and beyond what the city and individual property owners can provide. These services and improvements are in the following areas: (i) Marketing and Perception Enhancement; (ii) Urban Planning; (iii) Services and Maintenance and (iv) Security and Public Safety, in addition to providing for the administration of the District.
The rate of assessment is 0.1181¢ per $100 of property valuation, all homestead exemptions are applicable for residential property owners. Property is assessed on the basis of the current year certified Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) value. The assessment dollars offset the cost of improvement projects within Midtown in accordance with the fiscal years 2005 – 2014 approved Service and Improvement Plan and Assessment Plan.
Property owners are responsible for address changes to Harris County and Equi-Tax.
