| Marketing and Perception Enhancement |
 |
The goal of the Marketing and Perception Enhancement Program is to provide residents and business owners the opportunity to foster community spirit with events and marketing strategies which bring the public and private sectors together in a partnership that communicates the positive aspects of living and working in Midtown.
The Midtown Paper
The Midtown Paper has been effective in creating a positive image of the District as an outstanding place to live, work, shop, build, and invest. Since its inception in 2001, the Midtown Paper has been published with the goal of providing accurate pertinent information about the District. It is an effective way to showcase Midtown's assets to readers both inside and outside the District. The paper promotes our community and businesses through editorial content, and reasonably priced advertising opportunities. 15,000 papers are printed on a quarterly basis. All Midtown property owners receive their paper by US Post.
More than 200,000 copies of the paper have been distributed to date. Look for the distinctive black wire Midtown Newspaper racks with the Midtown logo at more than 60 locations throughout the District.
The Midtown Map
First published in the 4th quarter of 2005 the Midtown Map appears as an insert in the Midtown Paper. It consistently offers all Midtown businesses and organizations a low cost way to advertise not only to the community but outside our District boundaries. To purchase a numbered button on the front of the map you must be a Midtown business owner or organization. The map features only businesses within Midtown boundaries.
Advertising opportunities on the banner below the map and on the back of the map are available to Houston area businesses or organizations for purchase.
To find out more about rates please contact the publisher of the Midtown Paper and Map; Quantum/SUR - Mary Chavoustie at 281.955.2449 ext 13.

The Midtown Stakeholders Report
The Midtown Management District periodically publishes a Midtown Stakeholders Report to keep property and business owners as well as elected officals and area community leaders abreast of projects that impact the community. The Midtown eNews
The Midtown eNews is a weekly email publication. On October 28, 2005 the first Midtown Enews was sent out to 269 subscribers.
As of July 19, 2010, 314 e-newsletters have been sent to some 325,400 readers on behalf of our community. We have reported on community based events, artist’s receptions, grand openings, constrution projects and more all in an effort to keep readers aware of Midtown and its offerings. As of August 11, 2010 we have 1,950+ subscribers.
There is no charge to any Midtown business owner or organization to be placed in the Midtown eNews. This is another way the District works for you to continue to promote the area and your business. If you would like to feature your event in the Midtown Enews please consider the following.
All mentions must have a Midtown connection. They must take place in Midtown, benefit a Midtown organization, or involve residents or businesses owners of the community.
All press releases, web addresses and a jpg format logo must be submitted to Midtown by noon on the Tuesday prior to Thursday distribution, but even with that there is a high demand to be placed on the Midtown Enews and we cannot guarantee a spot. There are normally 10-12 slots available per week and they fill up fast so our advice is to send your information over early. Please feel free to forward your Midtown eNews in its entirety to your friends. However please refrain from altering the integrity of the original document.
“I’m constantly amazed at the amount of fantastic content in their Enews: very few organizations truly maximize their ability to keep their constituents informed electronically, but Midtown does so as well as anyone we’ve worked with.”
Daniel Levine owner DML Co. and Midtown website developer
The Midtown Calendar of Events
The Midtown events calendar came into being on May 5,2004.
Can you guess what the first event ever posted on the calendar was? Of course a Midtown Management District Board of Directors meeting.
As of July 22, 2010 over 2,500 events have been posted on the Midtown calendar.
There is no charge to any Midtown business owner or organization to be placed on the Midtown Calendar of Events. This is another way the District works for you to continue to promote your business and the area.
Press releases may be submitted to the District at anytime to be placed on the calendar; of course there must be a Midtown connection to qualify.
The Midtown Logo - "our baby"
The Midtown logo is a registered trademark. Our logo is NOT available for use by any entity other than Midtown without expressed written consent of the Midtown Management District Board of Directors.
4th Annual Midtown Art in the Park
Midtown Art in the Park 2010
April 10, 2010 was our 4th Annual Midtown Art in the Park. This fantastic boutique fine art festival takes place at Baldwin Park. This year we hosted 65 fine artists from the area showcasing a variety of media: painting, sculpture, woodworks, glass, metalwork, pottery, watercolor, photography and more. This is not a craft show it is a true fine arts event set on the grounds of a 5 acre urban park with towering ancient oaks. This year we host a number of professional music acts to enhance the festival atmosphere: performers from The Ensemble Theatre. Trinity Jazz, Days Drive and Jake Dell & The Dellciples. Wonderful Midtown restaurants such as Cyclone Anaya's and Julia's bistro also participated by providing their own brand of culinary delights. This event draws hundreds of visitors to our community. Midtowners ride their bikes or walk over to enjoy the festivities. Taking place at Elizabeth Baldwin Park at 1701 Elgin at Chenevert, admission is free.
